The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djurić, noted that the visit of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić to Kosovo and Metohija would be “very complicated” both politically and security-vise, but also immensely significant for the Serbs in the southern province. This visit, according to him, sends a message to Serbs, saying that Serbia stands by them and supports their staying and survival in Kosovo and Metohija.
Djurić deems that Vučić’s visit to Kosovska Mitrovica and Serbian enclaves located south of Ibar is extremely important due to a fact that safety of Serbs has been disrupted after the terrorist act of the assassination of Oliver Ivanović whose aim was, as he said, to frighten and banish all Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija from their homes.
“If we show solidarity with our people in Kosovo and Metohija and if we endure this temptation, I am sure that we will defeat the goals of terrorists who inflicted a terrible blow to entire Serbia and family of Oliver Ivanović”, Djurić said.
As he pointed out, the President of Serbia will talk with those who represent and lead the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and also with citizens about how they live their life, about their problems and fears and what the state of Serbia can do for them.
“The people who live here do not have other motherland and homeland. Furthermore, they decided to stay there with their families, which is why the presidential visit gives them new strength and security, and sends a message that the entire Serbia stands by them”, the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija assessed.
He called upon all Serbs, who live in Kosovo and Metohija, to come and talk to the President Vučić who will, as he recalled, apart from Kosovska Mitrovica, visit enclaves located south of Ibar, Gračanica and Laplje Selo.
